that aint so bad, until you drive a diesel.

You'll be fine. My Dad runs his Taurus down under 20 all the time. Even under 5 on occasion. I've even seen it say it was on zero a few times.

What happens when you drive diesel?

Just got to the nearest gas station and added $10. I've got a 1/4 tank now. I've got such a small tank.

My zx5 tank was smaller, than the FoST. You get that eco thing?

Well, the TDI I have has a self priming pump (though it doesn't like it) if you run out of diesel fuel you can't just put more in and go, you have to prime the fuel system manually. (bleed out the air and flood the suction and high pressure pump)

Phhhh, please. Here's mine:

I always run my cars below zero. Never broken a fuel pump.
My theory is that it's better to do it a lot than never. That way the little bits of crud get sucked up before they become big bits of crud!

Eco what?

Most cars have a sizable buffer after the gauge lights up.
My Tucson for example could go another forty miles.

Science!!

For all TDIs?? Even the Golf?

Went down to "0 mile" left in the Corvette... Stressful moment lol...
![]() 08/28/2014 at 19:36 |

It usually says you can go another 30 miles for me.

Did you panic?

As far as I know, any of the 2.0 TDI's are self priming, the rest? shrug. But diesels either have to have a self priming system or be manually bled. I hear from people that the self priming is brutal, you have to crank it for like 3 or 4 30 second intervals, all the while the high pressure pump isn't being lubricated. Ouch.

can't tell if being sarcastic. Anyways, apparently if you drive the FoST in a non awesome manner, you get green pedals, one for shifting, one for speed, and one for anticipation. After all that you get a eco champion message

Oh that thing. Never gotten all the pedals before. I think that means I'm driving correctly? Because screw the environment?

sort of defeats the purpose of having an ST IMO

lol almost... There was no gas station for like 40miles around. Thought I could make it to the next one but apparently could not
Exited the freeway to go to the closest "town" and made it there after driving with 0 mile left for like 4 miles... lol

I have stopped at the pump before and before I turned it off, it was stuttering. Only reason I let it get that low, is that the station I usually go to was out of gas.

The fuel pump in the Safari has died twice because my mom let it get too low on fuel.
That's why the minute it hits the red, I'm at the gas station. Especially because I don't have a warning light.
